Event Details
We’re excited (and very relieved) to finally be ready to open booking for the 2010 conference.
This year’s conference will include a dazzling smorgasbord of open space, inspiring workshops including some longer in-depth sessions (a draft list of the choice of workshops will be appearing here shortly), skill shares, project shares, networking, entertainment, all your meals, lots of meaningful fun and frivolity, and hopefully you!
We're holding it at the very impressive ex-agricultural college of Seale Hayne, (recently purchased by the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust) just down the road from Totnes. We really struck lucky with this place after our two earlier location hiccups - lovely buildings, loads of room, fantastic catering facilities, woods and gardens, enough accommodation for everyone. And it's on a mainline station, so although it's kind of a long way away from just about everywhere, it's really accessible.
Dates and times
Registration opens on Friday June 11th at 19.30
The conference programme itself begins on Saturday morning June 12th at 10.00
The programme finishes on Monday June 14th at 13.00, followed by lunch
Friday night will be an informal mixing time with an open bar, so turn up on Friday night to meet old friends and make new ones.
Conference costs
- Tickets for the 2 ½ day event are £130
- There’s an Early Bird discount price of £115 till end of day May 16th
- All meals for the 2 ½ days are included in the price
- Accommodation is extra – details below
Conference numbers
This year we have capacity for around 350 participants. That’s about the number that congregated in London last year for our 2009 conference, so if you want to make sure you get a place, you’d better get your skates on!

Getting there
Seale-Hayne is 3 miles outside of Newton Abbot. The postcode is TQ12 6NQ. Newton Abbot is accessible by rail, coach and road. Newton Abbot train station is 3 miles away from Seale-Hayne. We will also set up shuttle transport for key train arrivals. Taxis cost approx £10 each way. Parking is available at the venue and will be charged on the gate at £10/car. See here for cycling and walking maps and more detailed travel info: www.transitionnetwork.org/conference-2010-uk.
Friday night
On Friday night, there’s no food available at Seale-Hayne so don’t arrive with an empty stomach! The bar will be open, so expect lots of chatter and tales aplenty as transitioners get reacquainted and make new friends.
Children
On account of unforeseen venue changes and budget constraints, we’ve yet again failed to create a child-friendly event this year. No promises, but we’ll do our damnedest to sort this out for 2011.
